VELLE300 - A Musical Rebirth

Okkkkk Sooooo when HIGHSAUN FILMS hit me up with an artist to interview, I was more than ready to meet the newcomer he wanted to introduce to our industry. HIGHSAUN with his usual self...straight to the point, kept it short, and let off a few quick laughs. I was left wondering who and what exactly VELLE300 is about.

I spoke sporadically with VELLE300, confirming his interview over at the Iam216radio station (*S/o to DJChucktheworld). He seemed super polite, humble, and very thankful for the interview opportunity. While I sat in my whip...ya know...parking lot pimpin...aaduhhhhhh...I saw VELLE300 pull up in a Cadillac. I was thinking...he seems like he would drive a caddy...that old soul kinda vibe...smooth...chill.

We climbed the never ending flight of of stairs to the top, and picked 2 seats in back of the studio to get acquainted. I noticed VELLE300 was happy. I could literally feel his positive energy. He smiled constantly...not a weird creeper smile...but a sincere smile. 

He mos def gave off the "nice guy, Sister Sister "Ohhhhh Roger", play brother" kinda vibe...in a good way people....sheesh. So of course I had to go above and beyond to shock him, pick his brain, put him on the spot, and see if he was ready for any and everything. Let's get introduced to VELLE300.

Q.You say you're "CLEVELAND's FINEST", why are you the finest?                                                             

A. Cuz of all the originality I bring...my life. I put everything into my music. I'm literally putting my heart out there so people can relate. "You feel Me".

Q. What are things people can relate to?

A. Life...just the up's and downs, the hardships, trials and tribulations, success, the real coming from the bottom hustle...the grind.

Q. What is the most difficult tribulations you've ever had to overcome?

A. Losing my father last year, thats the most difficult tribulation I've had to overcome, that and finding myself. It took me a long time to get here. I went through a lot of name changes.

Q. How did you get the name Velle300?

A. My middle name is Marvell! I got 300 cuz I always keep it 300, I keep it so real, I'm not scared to say the hard things.

Q. Are you an Aries?

A. Yes, April 10

Q. How would you describe your sound or genre of music?

A. Rap, R&B, Trap Soul..with originality. I like to harmonize.

Q. Are you a writer?

A. Yes, I'm more of a writer. I actually sit down and write about what's going on in my life...that's how I get it all out.

Q. Do you have kids?

A. Yes...2

Q.Are you from CLEVELAND?

A.Yes, I grew up in East Cleveland, and later I moved over to South Euclid.

Q. Do you enjoy South Euclid?

A. Yes it's safe to raise a family?

Q. Do you drink?

A. No...I only smoke.

Q. Sooooo you would rather smoke vs drink,,,why?

A. Drinking kills more people, it's just a legal drug that they can actually put a tax on. I blacked out when  I was drinking.

Q. What were you drinking?

A. BOMBAY, I'll never drink bombay again...I haven't drank in 3-4 years.

Q. What's the name of your new project?

A. "BUY IT ALL"...it's got a nice lil club beat.

Q. Who produced it?

A. Maurly T - Studio 76...

Q. How did you hook up with HIGHSAUN?

A. My brother from another mother...he saw how dedicated I am.

Q. Were you nervous about this interview?'

A. Ummm more like excited....I think I'm past the nerves cuz I known who I am and  what I bring to the table...I know what I've got to offer.

Q.Have you done any visuals yet?

A. I did...but I wasn't satisfied with them.

Q. Sooooo you really are starting over?

A. Yeah I've already done it the wrong way...now I wanna do it the right way.

Q. Do you feel like you need to do anything "crazy" like crazy antics to create a buzz?

A. Nope, cuz at the end of the day it's not about fame for  me, it's about the love of the music. Why would I stoop that low when it took me so long to find myself?

Wrapping up the interview with VELLE300 was cool. We laughed...and he proved himself to be relaxed and pretty much open to talk about anything. He survived the hella sh*t I talked and he was a good sport. VELLE300 seemed to be embracing and enjoying his musical rebirth. #MUSICMONDAY EC MARV "Nah Fr" (Official Video)

Okkkkk Sooooo it's #MusicMonday! I must say…EC MARV has hustled hard to make me enjoy, believe, and most importantly RESPECT his music. No longer the "1 lil young ni*ga" outta East Cleveland, EC MARV has quickly pushed past some of CLEVELAND'S musical OG's in solidifying his place in this music industry. With no shortage of drama, relationship issues good/bad (*S/o to Sunni we see you girllllll), internet beef, casual taunting of freniemes, power teasers for new music and visuals, 1 of the originators of the #challenges (*admit it…you've attempted at least 1 #NahFRchallenge ) ohhhhhhh and we can't forget…the face paced bars that seem to almost trip over each other when EC MARV spits….but in a creative, original, mos def takes some talent to be able to ride a beat like that…kinda way. EC MARV seems to understand the way this game goes, and he isn't afraid to get in and play…like…"Nah FR". XOXO

Okkkkk sooooo there's no need to beat around the bush. Let's just get straight to it. ROB ROA's "REHAB WITH JOHNNY"…is the best video of the year so far! I know I know…we are only 3 months into the new year (*If you wanna be petty then…)but not only is"REHAB WITH JOHNNY"  1 of the best video's that's been released in yearsssss, the song itself is 1 of the best lyrical stories, (*with an intro, climax, ending, and dope visual bringing it to life )to come out of CLEVELAND…since FOREVER!

It's impressive to see an artist travel across the country , just to make a visual. This video is sooooo INSANE, COLORFUL,SEXY, DIRTY, HARDCORE, DARK, FUNNY and ADDICTIVE!("We All Know How It Goes With Addiction" - Rob Roa) Lines off her body, bumps off her shoulder, brutal gut punches from an angry "little person",making out with mannequins in glitter hats, destroyed hotel rooms,white wig disguises, cookie tossing in parking lots, strippers and Johnny are all present in this epic video!

I love the front desk lady! I still can't figure out if she was acting in the video, or if she was really attempting to call security in real life. Yes, this video is entertainment at it's finest! ROB ROA'S "REHAB WITH JOHNNY" paints a lyrical perspective for the "other side" of the Johnny Manziel "situation". Enjoy this masterpiece! Okkkkk Sooooo when I checked my twitter…I wasn't surprised to see Ray Cash breezing thru. I mean that's 1 thing about Ray Cash…he's 1 of the most loyal ,consistent people you could ever meet. Once you've built a respect with this dude (*you gotta be on ya grind, and bout yo sh*t tho, or he aint f*ckin with you), you aint ever gotta worry bout him changing on you. Okkkkkkk Soooooo when YUNG BROLY hit me up via Twitter aka *1 of the fastest most bestis  social media connections around the WORLD…*headroll fingasnap…I kinda sent a dry tweet back. Noooo it wasn't because I wasn't interested, but maybe it more so because I was bored. I was bored with listening to music, and I was irritated watching damn reality tv…thinking…"this is sooooo not real". YUNG BROLY popped up in my timeline shortly after our 1st tweet encounter, simply saying "thank you I just sent it off hope to hear from you soon". Then BOOM…he was gone. There were no "yoooooo check out dis fire I got", or no "mannnnn dis dat sh"t dat will make you "turn up"". I'm not saying that I enjoy accelerated confidence, but that's how most people attempt to grab my attention. Later on I found myself working my thumb, scrolling thru my notifications , and finally decide to check out who this humbly, straight to the point, almost social media gentlemen YUNG BROLY was. Curiosity got the best of me and I clicked the link to "F*CK YOU" produced by UNKKKNWM..

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! Yup….thats the 1st thing I said from the the very 1st close up! The colors are so vibrant and aggressive! The intro alone automatically kinda makes you wanna settle into a cool posture, like when your at a club, or chillin outside, or even riding in the whip leaned back …just cruising. YUNG BROLY sits alone in his video, yet "F*CK YOU" climaxes quickly and you find yourself waiting for a group of dudes to finally bum rush the video (*typical) and steal the scenes. Yet that never happens, which makes the visual even more DOPE! O.P.P PRODUCTION effortlessly combined simple visual techniques with artsy, gritty side effects and contrast. YUNG BROLY humbly commands our attention with his 4 minutes of catchy metaphors, and his original bold fashion statement. Let's face it, not everyone can pull off a Pokemon hat, joggers, and a half smoked mild….but YUNG BROLY did. *Maybe it's a Shaker thing (GO RAIDERS).
